PUTTING A FACE ON HISTORY:  The Buffalo Soldiers in New Mexico and the Forgotten Faces of Fort Craig

This exhibition will debut Saturday, September 11, 2010.  This awesome story of grave robbers, forensic science and redemption will be on exhibit through December 31, 2010.    This exhibition will allow visitors to experience firsthand the science behind how forensic anthropologists and sculptors examine human remains to determine identities and complete facial reconstructions.  Come and see the artifacts and photos from Fort Craig and the overall activities of the Buffalo soldiers in New Mexico.  Sculptor Amanda Danning will use a model to perform live progressive reconstruction of the face of US Army Pvt. Levi Morris, a Buffalo Soldlier, Sunday, September 12 - Saturday, September 18, 2010, 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. daily.  Opening ceremonies will begin Saturday, September 11, 2010, 3:00 pm. at the African American Performing Arts Center.  To schedule a tour, please call Donald Jordan at 222-0777.
